Terms of use
AshForge is a free set of modding tools for Ascent of Ashes, made by The AshForge Team ("we"). These terms cover the AshForge apps, this website and the mod library. By using any of them, you agree to these terms.

Using the apps
The AshForge apps belong to The AshForge Team, which keeps all rights in them. You may download, install and use them for free, to play Ascent of Ashes with mods and to make mods.
You may not sell or rent the apps, redistribute them or modified copies of them, remove their notices, present them as your own, or use them to break the law or harm anyone's systems.
Licenses for some parts
Some parts have their own license, and where it says something different, that license wins. The AshForge Mod SDK is MIT-licensed: its template, build files and docs are yours to copy into your own mods, even commercially. The AshForge Mod Loader included with it is not open source. You may build mods against it, but you may not redistribute, ship or decompile it. The SDK license has the details. Third-party components inside the apps keep their own licenses.
Not official
AshForge is an independent fan project. It is not made, endorsed or supported by the developers or publisher of Ascent of Ashes, and "Ascent of Ashes" belongs to its owners. Mods change how the game runs and can break saves or stop the game from starting, so back up your saves.
Mods
- Who makes them. The library holds mods made by The AshForge Team and mods made by community authors. Community mods are their authors' work; we review the ones submitted to the library and sign the ones we accept. Every mod, ours included, is provided as is: review and testing lower the risk, but can't remove it.
- Submitting a mod. You confirm that you have the right to share everything in it. You keep ownership, and you give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive permission to review, sign, host and distribute it, and to show its name, description and images, for as long as it is in the library. You can ask us to remove it at any time; copies people have already downloaded can't be recalled.
- Harmful mods aren't allowed: nothing that damages computers, collects data without consent, or breaks the law or someone else's rights. We may remove any mod from the library, and the Hub can switch off a mod that has been withdrawn for safety reasons.
- Reporting a mod. If you believe a mod is harmful or uses your work without permission, email [email protected] with a link to it and we'll look into it promptly.
Community
Be respectful on our issue tracker, in comments and on Discord. We may remove posts, or people, that aren't.
Changes to AshForge
We may change, pause or stop offering any part of AshForge, including the mod library, at any time.
No warranty
AshForge and the mods in the library are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We work hard to make them reliable, but we can't promise they are free of bugs or always available.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, The AshForge Team isn't liable for any indirect or incidental loss, or for lost saves or data, arising from the apps, the website or any mod. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you live somewhere whose consumer laws give you rights that can't be waived, those rights still apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and using AshForge after a change means you accept it. Questions? Email [email protected], or ask on our issue tracker or Discord. See also our privacy policy.
